A Day In The Life Of...

A Certified Public Accountant

6:30 - Rise from sleep and put the coffee on to brew.

7:00 - make lunches and get myself and three kids ready for school.

7:48 - Drop kids off at school and walk each one to class.

8:45 - Drop off business cards at a construction site hoping for a contact for new business.

9:00 - Arrive at work (schedule is extremely flexible to allow for morning family time and any unknown traffic glitches that may be lurking on the way to work)

9:33 - Continue with current project of preparing LaSalle returns.

11:00 - Touch base with managing partner Rick Baumeister about new details with the LaSalle project.

12:30 - Lunch with potential new client.

1:20 - Meeting with partner, Allyson Baumeister, about a very close client with whom I am about to work for. I get a thorough introduction with details about the client and her history with the firm. I even get the approval to contact the client if the need arises.

3:00 - Emailing for further accounting business and possible employee benefit client.

3:20 - Continue working with LaSalle entities.

5:30 - Pick up kids and go home for a quick change of clothes.

6:15 - Attend firm night out at a Ft. Worth Catz game including a pre-game tailgating party complete with a made-to-order cook. Enjoy talking with partners and their families and getting to know them on a personal level. The kids loved meeting a new peer group of "firm kids" to hang out with during the game.

9:45 - Tuck the kids into their beds and read a bedtime story for extra bonding time.

10:45 - Final email check for the day to make sure nothing urgent came up during the evening for me to start the day with tomorrow.
